How to use the mapping tool

The aim of the Cross Border Bioenergy project is to provide interested stakeholders with information about the attractiveness of the different European bioenergy markets under the given market and framework conditions. With the help of this tool you can compare the attractiveness of different factors influencing the bioenergy markets in different European countries and regions. Read more

The color gradients of the map offer a direct comparison of the market attractiveness of different EU countries and in some cases even regions. More detailed information on scores and weights of criteria, categories and single indicators can be obtained by clicking on a certain country or region in the map.
The GIS-tool offers differentiated sector-based information. For this purpose the bioenergy sector is divided into 7 sub-sectors which offer more specific evaluation, scoring and comparison of different EU-markets. Switching from one sector to another, will jump back to the scoring of the main criteria of the country or region that had been chosen before.
The scoring offers a comparison of all the data that have been collected. The scoring instructions vary for the different indicators, and a closer explanation can be found on every scoring level underneath the bar chart or directly from the contact person stated below.
The weighting of the scores can be adjusted according to individual priority. The weighting for the upper levels is standardized to 2, while on the lowest indicator level the assigned experts set the weighting differently according to their respective importance.
The scoring is based on data collected and evaluated by the project partner organizations. Of the whole of Europe, 9 countries were evaluated on a regional level and for the purpose of this country overview, this regional data has been aggregated to receive a national score.
In addition to the insight provided by the CBB project, investment decisions must also be based on complementary information on commercial conditions at specific sites and the CBB team cannot accept any liability for the conclusions that the user may derive from the data.
